About Cannon Beach
Cannon Beach Oregon is located on the North Oregon Coast, about 90 minutes West of the Portland metro area. Most visitors will travel West on Highway 26 and turn South at the U.S. 101/ Hwy 26 junction. The first of the three Cannon Beach exits is just a short drive from the junction.
Chapman Point
Chapman Point is located at the far North end of Cannon Beach, near Ecola State Park. The most impressive homes are located on Oak Street, and overlook Chapman Point and the mighty Pacific Ocean. This quiet nook of Cannon Beach offers impressive ocean views while being “off the beaten path” enough that the tourist types aren’t strolling by in parade formation.
Downtown Cannon Beach
The downtown core of Cannon Beach is comprised of several famous (or infamous) galleries, restaurants, cafes, coffee shops and boutiques. Don’t let the relatively small size of Cannon Beach fool you, the shopping is fantastic.
Presidential Streets
The Presidential Streets of Cannon Beach are named (as you might have guessed) after past Presidents. The mid-town area as it’s also referred is in between the downtown core and Haystack Rock. This is one of the more popular locations for vacation rentals, as the location is prime and walking distance to downtown is a great feature of many homes. Who wants to drive all the way to Cannon Beach and then get back in the car?
Haystack Rock
Haystack Rock is an aptly named rock formation in Cannon Beach comprised of several smaller rocks and the “Haystack” stretching over 200′ into the air. The area around Haystack Rock offers great opportunity for sealife viewing with tidal pools and marine life visible nearly everywhere. The Haystack Rock has been designated a nation wilderness area and is a protected area. Care must be taken by visitors not to disturb or damage the marine life in the vicinity. Homes located just above Haystack Rock enjoy an awesome view of breaking waves and the rock itself, a view coveted by those who live/vacation there.
Tolovana Park
The Tolovana Park area of Cannon Beach is located at the far South end of town, and is easily accessed by the 3rd exit of Highway 101. Ocean front homes are the ticket here, both for weekly rentals and full-time living. Just far enough from downtown to avoid the weekend crowds, but close enough to enjoy all that Cannon Beach offers. My personal favorite area of Cannon Beach is the Tolovana Park area.
Cannon Beach Real Estate
Cannon Beach real estate is a diverse at those that live here, ranging from small beach front cabins to luxury homes overlooking Haystack Rock and Chapman Point. While the average sales price in Cannon Beach hovers near $350,000, it’s not unusual to see ocean front estates sell for over $2m. Homes are generally less expensive as you move in from the beach, and location is more of a factor in determining value that the home itself. Several condo complexes are also located in Cannon Beach including Breakers Point, Elk Creek, Sand Castle, Haystack Square, Jordan Pacific, Sea Colony, Tolovana Inn and others.
